Anatomy demonstration, 1493. Title page of Anathomia by Mondino de Luzzi (Mundinus). Finished in 1316, Anathomia was first published in Padua in 1478 and for upwards of a hundred years was the only textbook on anatomy. De Luzzi (c1270-c1326) was an Italian physician and anatomist said to have been the first since ancient times to carry out human dissection.
