The sinking of the Anglia, First World War, 17 November 1915, (c1920). Mined in the English Channel: the sinking of the Hospital Ship Anglia. The British ship SS Anglia was requisitioned as HMHS (His Majestys Hospital Ship) Anglia. While carrying 390 injured officers and soldiers from France to England, she struck a mine laid by a German U-boat, and sank with the loss of 134 lives.
