Shorthorn Bull Ironclad, 1875. Bred by Lord Polworth, Ironclad was champion male shorthorn at the Royal Agricultural Show at Windsor. The Shorthorn is an English breed of cattle with a recorded history back to the 18th century. Originally a dual purpose, dairy and beef, animal, by the early 1800s two separate strains were being developed. From Modern Practical Farriery by J William Miles. (London, 1875)
