Presentation of the Lombok Cross by Queen Wilhelmina on the Malieveld in The Hague, 6 July 1895, (1895). The Lombok Cross is a military award established to commemorate service in the 1894 Dutch intervention in Lombok and Karangasem (in modern Indonesia). On the pavilion are written the words Bali and Lombok'. The Malieveld (literally pall-mall field') is a large grass field in the centre of The Hague. It is the location of many large-scale demonstrations and is also used for festivals, funfairs, concerts and other big events.
