Napoleon on Board H.M.S. Bellerophon, July, 1815, (1896). In 1815, Napoleon Bonaparte (1769-1821) surrendered to a British naval officer, Captain Maitland of the HMS Bellerophon. Here is shown on board the ship bound for St Helena, where he remained in exile until his death in 1821. Typogravure after the painting made c1880 by WQ Orchardson.
