Lord Lonsdale's travels in the Arctic regions of North America: York Factory, west coast of Hudson's Bay, 1890. The enterprising and courageous performance of the Earl of Lonsdale in travelling northward, from the Saskatchewan River of the Great Western Territory of Canada to the shores of the Arctic Ocean, and thence crossing Alaska westward to the North Pacific...has excited much attention...Few people...have made acquaintance with those desolate regions...It was on Feb. 22, 1888, that his Lordship left England for Canada, determined to travel as far as he could overland in the Far West of the American continent... Our Illustrations, from photographs given to Lord Lonsdale by Colonel Gilder, show the kind of sledges, with dog-teams, commonly used in that country, and the Indians in attendance, dressed in clothing of blankets or leather, with fur caps and broad belts, about seven feet long, supplied by the Hudson Bay Company. York Factory, on the west coast of Hudson Bay, was not visited by Lord Lonsdale, but it is represented in our Illustrations to show the ordinary style of construction of the Company's forts or stations'. Wood effect frame, card mounted, 10x8 fade resistant photo print. Overall outside dimensions 14x12 inches (36x31cm). Environmentally and ozone friendly, 40mm wide x 15mm Polycore® moulding has the look of real wood, is durable and light and easy to hang. Biodegradable and made with non-chlorinated gases (no toxic fumes) it is efficient; producing 100 tons of polystyrene can save 300 tons of trees! Prints are glazed with lightweight, shatterproof, optical clarity acrylic (providing the same general protection from the environment as glass). The back is stapled hardboard with a sawtooth hanger attached. Note: measurements provided are estimated outer dimensions, which include both the image and the frame. While we aim to keep sizing consistent, exact dimensions may vary slightly due to differences in print size or production requirements, which may result in a variation in the overall size (up to approximately 2.5cm (1"))
