The Guards Parade at the Horse Guards in honour of the Queen's Birthday, 1869. The inspection of the Foot Guards...took place in the Parade, St. James's Park [in London]...The whole brigade consisted of the third battalion Grenadiers; the first and second battalions Coldstreams; and the first and second battalions Scots Fusiliers...A detachment of the 2nd Life Guards was on the ground...The Commander-in-Chief, Field Marshal the Duke of Cambridge, attended by Colonel the Hon. James Macdonald and Colonel Clifton, arrived on the ground punctually at ten o'clock, accompanied by Prince Teck. The Prince of Wales accompanied by the Crown Prince of Denmark and attended by Major Grey and Captain Lund, arrived a few minutes after the Commander-in-Chief. The illustrious party were received with a Royal salute by the troops, the several bands playing God Save the Queen.'...After the Royal salute...the ceremony of trooping the colours was performed...The Duke of Cambridge expressed himself highly pleased with the marching of the flank companies and the soldier-like appearance of the men. The bands then played the guard to St. James's, and the troops marched to their respective quarters; while the bands played, as usual, the National Anthem'. From Illustrated London News, 1869. Wood effect frame, card mounted, 10x8 fade resistant photo print. Overall outside dimensions 14x12 inches (36x31cm). Environmentally and ozone friendly, 40mm wide x 15mm Polycore® moulding has the look of real wood, is durable and light and easy to hang. Biodegradable and made with non-chlorinated gases (no toxic fumes) it is efficient; producing 100 tons of polystyrene can save 300 tons of trees! Prints are glazed with lightweight, shatterproof, optical clarity acrylic (providing the same general protection from the environment as glass). The back is stapled hardboard with a sawtooth hanger attached. Note: measurements provided are estimated outer dimensions, which include both the image and the frame. While we aim to keep sizing consistent, exact dimensions may vary slightly due to differences in print size or production requirements, which may result in a variation in the overall size (up to approximately 2.5cm (1"))
