The sheath is of gold, set with pearls, and the handle of richly chased gold, bearing devices significant of Justice and Mercy...the sword - the gift of the Sovereign - symbolizes the exclusive jurisdiction which, as chief officer of the Corporation, he exercises within the city walls.
