Organistrum, 9th century, (1870). A fore-runner of the hurdy-gurdy, the organistrum was mainly a religious instrument which gave a constant sound, due to its bass string. It was played by two people, one of whom cranked the handle while the other pulled the keys. Fluted cardboard backing held with clips. Supplied ready to hang with sawtooth hanger and rubber bumpers. Spot clean with a damp cloth. Packaged foam wrapped in a card.
