First meeting of George III with the Princess Charlotte... 1761, (mid 19th century)
First meeting of George III with the Princess Charlotte of Mecklenburg Strelitz, 1761, (mid 19th century). King George III of Great Britain (1738-1820) succeeded to the throne when his grandfather, George II, died suddenly on 25 October 1760. The search for an appropriate wife intensified. On 8 September 1761 in the Chapel Royal, St Jamess Palace, the King married Princess Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz (1744-1818), whom he met on their wedding day. They were crowned at Westminster Abbey a fortnight later. [John Tallis & Company, London & New York]
