Enthronisation of the Most Rev. Dr. Charles Thomas Longley, Lord Archbishop of Canterbury, in the choir of Canterbury Cathedral, 1862. At the end of the first lesson Archdeacon Harrison went down from his stall and conducted the Archbishop to the throne, in which he caused him to sit, and formally inducted him into the archbishopric, reading the induction as follows: I, Benjamin Harrison, acting as deputy for James Croft, Master of Arts, Archdeacon of Canterbury, do induct, install, and enthrone you, the Most Reverend Father in God, Charles Thomas Longley, Doctor in Divinity, Lord Archbishop of Canterbury, into the archbishopric and archiepiscopal dignity of the see of Canterbury, into the real, actual, and corporal possession of the same, with all and singular the rights, dignities, honours, preeminences, and appurtenances thereof, and the Lord preserve your going out and your coming in, from this time forth forevermore. Amen.'...An act of the proceedings was then produced and signed in the presence of and attested by a notary public, which completed the ceremony of the enthronisation'.
