The Duke and Duchess of Connaught opening the People's Park at Great Grimsby, 1883. Arch in Hainton Square; Visit to Albert Gardens; General view of Park; H.R.H. the Duchess of Connaught planting a tree; Arch in Town Hall Street...Mr. Edward Heneage, M.P....has given the land for the public park...their Royal Highnesses were conducted to the Albert Gardens, where they viewed the Memorial Statue of the late Prince Consort...[They then] entered a carriage, which was escorted...along Cleethorpe-road, Freeman-street, Hainton-street, Hainton-square, and Welholme-road, to the new public Park. This route was adorned with flags, garlands of foliage and flowers, and hangings of bright colours; with the triumphal arch, surrounded by a large stuffed eagle...Having reached the new People's Park, their Royal Highnesses alighted from the carriage...the whole assembly of people cheering...The Mayor then delivered to his Royal Highness a golden key, and requested him to declare the People's Park opened, which he did...The Duchess of Connaught was next presented by the Mayor with a silver spade, with which [she]...planted a small oak-tree...Another festive arch, erected in Townhall-street, with the carriage passing through, appears among our Illustrations'. Wood effect frame, card mounted, 10x8 fade resistant photo print. Overall outside dimensions 14x12 inches (36x31cm). Environmentally and ozone friendly, 40mm wide x 15mm Polycore® moulding has the look of real wood, is durable and light and easy to hang. Biodegradable and made with non-chlorinated gases (no toxic fumes) it is efficient; producing 100 tons of polystyrene can save 300 tons of trees! Prints are glazed with lightweight, shatterproof, optical clarity acrylic (providing the same general protection from the environment as glass). The back is stapled hardboard with a sawtooth hanger attached. Note: measurements provided are estimated outer dimensions, which include both the image and the frame. While we aim to keep sizing consistent, exact dimensions may vary slightly due to differences in print size or production requirements, which may result in a variation in the overall size (up to approximately 2.5cm (1"))
