Visit of the Queen and Prince Albert to the Resolute, Spithead, Hampshire, 1856, (c1888). Queen Victoria and her husband visit the ship of British Arctic explorer John Franklin. The Resolute reached Spithead in December 1856, under the command of Captain Hartstein of the US Navy. It had been repaired by the United States Government after being found abandoned in the ice, and was presented to Great Britain.
