Scene from Il Masnadieri (The Brigands), 1847. Opera by Guiseppe Verdi, with libretto by Andrea Maffei based on Schillers Die Rauber. This was the only opera by Verdi commissioned by London. It was produced at her Majestys Theatre, 22 July 1847. Jenny Lind, soprano, played the Heroine Amalia and Luigi Lablache, bass, played Masimillio Moor.
