Mortimer seized by the King, 1864. Roger de Mortimer, 3rd Baron Mortimer, 1st Earl of March (25 April 1287 - 29 November 1330), became disaffected with his king and joined the growing opposition to Edward II. Accused of assuming royal power and other crimes, Mortimer and Isabella were seized by Edward and his companions from inside Nottingham Castle to be executed by hanging at Tyburn in 1325.
