Model of Queen Elizabeth's yacht, 1864. Our Engraving represents a model of the Royal yacht built for Queen Elizabeth, now in the possession of Mr. Charles Brown, of her Majesty's Dockyard, Deptford. It is about 5 ft. in length, and was modelled in 1588. It is cut out from the solid timber, the ornamental carvings, which are excellent both in their design and execution, being left in relief. Below the gunwale, on a blue streak or ribbon, are painted several groups of small figures, representing various subjects of classical mythology; and on the stern is an exquisite carving, which represents the introduction of Sir Walter Raleigh to Queen Elizabeth. The arrangement of the spars and of the standing and running rigging differs but slightly from that of the present day. The model is in an excellent state of preservation, and would be a valuable addition to the naval museum at Greenwich Hospital, or to that of the United Service Institution. It was purchased by Mr. Brown, at the sale of the effects of a deceased naval officer, not very long ago'. From Illustrated London News, 1864. Wood effect frame, card mounted, 10x8 fade resistant photo print. Overall outside dimensions 14x12 inches (36x31cm). Environmentally and ozone friendly, 40mm wide x 15mm Polycore® moulding has the look of real wood, is durable and light and easy to hang. Biodegradable and made with non-chlorinated gases (no toxic fumes) it is efficient; producing 100 tons of polystyrene can save 300 tons of trees! Prints are glazed with lightweight, shatterproof, optical clarity acrylic (providing the same general protection from the environment as glass). The back is stapled hardboard with a sawtooth hanger attached. Note: measurements provided are estimated outer dimensions, which include both the image and the frame. While we aim to keep sizing consistent, exact dimensions may vary slightly due to differences in print size or production requirements, which may result in a variation in the overall size (up to approximately 2.5cm (1"))
