Leathersellers Hall, City of London, 1977. Artist: Michael Walters
Leathersellers Hall, City of London, 1977. The Leathersellers Company is a Royal Livery Company, granted a royal charter in 1444 by King Henry VI with the power to regulate and control the manufacture and sale of leather throughout the United Kingdom. Many Livery Companies owned halls where company business could be conducted and clients entertained. Some of the halls were damaged by the Fire of London and the Blitz, and today 40 companies still have halls in the City. The current Leathersellers Hall was completed in 1960, replacing its predecessor, destroyed in 1941 by a German incendiary bomb
