The International Exhibition: Love Resting on Friendship, sculptured by Professor Fantachiotti, in the Italian Court, 1862. The dog is and must ever be one of the best types of friendship, faithful under all circumstances of fortune and ever vigilant. And what more apt impersonation of love have we than the old Pagan ideal of a wayward child or thoughtless youth? Happy union, when both are united, and especially when Love rests in perfect security on ever-wakeful Friendship...we would call attention to the exquisite truthfulness with which sleep is expressed in the face and attitude of Cupid - in the perfect relaxation of every part, and that easy flexion of the joints so characteristic of childhood...The finish is very remarkable throughout, and especially where most needed - that is, in the features and extremities. Even the hairy texture of the dog was evidently a labour of love, and it forms a most agreeable contrast to the morbidezza of Cupid's flesh'. From Illustrated London News, 1862. Wood effect frame, card mounted, 10x8 fade resistant photo print. Overall outside dimensions 14x12 inches (36x31cm). Environmentally and ozone friendly, 40mm wide x 15mm Polycore® moulding has the look of real wood, is durable and light and easy to hang. Biodegradable and made with non-chlorinated gases (no toxic fumes) it is efficient; producing 100 tons of polystyrene can save 300 tons of trees! Prints are glazed with lightweight, shatterproof, optical clarity acrylic (providing the same general protection from the environment as glass). The back is stapled hardboard with a sawtooth hanger attached. Note: measurements provided are estimated outer dimensions, which include both the image and the frame. While we aim to keep sizing consistent, exact dimensions may vary slightly due to differences in print size or production requirements, which may result in a variation in the overall size (up to approximately 2.5cm (1"))
