The Great Exhibition Building in Hyde Park - Circular Plane - Showing Cutter, 1850. Creator: Unknown
The Great Exhibition Building in Hyde Park - Circular Plane - Showing Cutter, 1850. We were informed that this...is only the second machine of the kind which has been put up. It is patented by W. Furness, of Liverpool. When in action, it requires the attendance of two men and one boy. The planes, or cutters...rotate with considerable velocity, and plane at one time one side of three "quarter baulks"; the cutters are attached to a cross-arm between the uprights of a frame somewhat similar to a vertical saw frame'.
