Galilee Chapel, Durham Cathedral, 1893. Creator: Unknown
Galilee Chapel, Durham Cathedral, 1893. The Romanesque cathedral in Durham dates almost entirely from the 12th century. It was a medieval site of pilgrimage due to the presence of the remains of St Cuthbert. The Galilee or Lady Chapel houses the remains of the Venerable Bede, and was the only place women could worship in the Cathedral during monastic times
