Tamara Karsavina, Russian ballerina, 1911. As Zobeide in the Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakovs ballet Scheherazade. Karsavina (1885-1978) starred with the Imperial Russian Ballet. She left Russia after the Revolution and joined Serge Diaghilevs Ballets Russes in Paris. Karsavina later settled in England where she taught ballet and was involved in the establishment of the Royal Ballet and the Royal Academy of Dance. Found in the collection of the State Museum of Theatre and Music, St Petersburg
