Ivan IV and Malyuta Skuratov, 1870. Ivan IV (Ivan the Terrible) (1530-1584) was Tsar of Russia from 1547 until his death. Malyuta Skuratov was one of the leaders of the political police, the Oprichniki, responsible for the administration of the Oprichnina, a territory within the Russian Empire under the direct absolute rule of Ivan between 1564 and 1572. Found in the collection of the Regional W Wereshchagin Art Museum, Mykolaiv, Ukraine
