HMS New Zealand, c1918 (1919)
HMS New Zealand, c1918 (1919). HMS New Zealand was one of three Indefatigable-class battlecruisers built for the defence of the British Empire. Launched in 1911, the ship was funded by the government of New Zealand as a gift to Britain. During World War I, New Zealand operated as part of the Royal Navys Grand Fleet, in opposition to the German High Seas Fleet, and saw action in all the major battles between the fleets in the North Sea. From The Wonder Book of the Navy for Boys and Girls, by Harry Golding. [Ward, Lock & Co. Limited, London, Melbourne and Toronto, 1919]
