The Great Fire at Cottons Wharf Tooley Street, 1861, (c1878). Depiction of the Tooley Street fire at Cottons Wharf on the south bank of the River Thames in Bermondsey, London. James Braidwood, superintendent of the London Fire Engine Establishment, was killed, and thousands of tons of rice, barrels of tallow, hemp, jute, sugar and bales of cotton were destroyed.
