Domingo del Monte, Venezuelan born in 1804. Went to Cuba in 1810 and organised the first literary gathering in Matanzas, 1834. He left unpublished a History of Fernandina Island (Cuba) and defended the freedom of Cuba. The Academy of History published the Centon epistolario de Domingo del Monte (1923-1930).
