Whitebait-boat, showing the method of fishing...the chief scene of its visitations is undoubtedly the Thames, notwithstanding the unwholesome and noxious particles with which the river below London unhappily abounds...The net as shown in Sketch No. 3, is a sort of bag...about eighteen or twenty feet in length...The boats...contain a little cramped-up cabin...Anchoring the boat in the tideway, where the fish are known to abound, the men throw overboard the anchor attached to the rope fastened to the net, which is cast overboard...with its mouth against the tide. It is kept in...position by a rope attached to the centre stake and passed through a block tied to the mast of the boat. By this arrangement (Sketch 4) the tail of the net just comes even with the stern of the boat, so that when sufficient bait has been captured the tail can be lifted over the side of the boat without the fishermen having to haul up the rest of the net; and, the string being untied (Sketch 2), they can be gently shaken (they should not be handled) into the basket prepared for them'. Wood effect frame, card mounted, 10x8 fade resistant photo print. Overall outside dimensions 14x12 inches (36x31cm). Environmentally and ozone friendly, 40mm wide x 15mm Polycore® moulding has the look of real wood, is durable and light and easy to hang. Biodegradable and made with non-chlorinated gases (no toxic fumes) it is efficient; producing 100 tons of polystyrene can save 300 tons of trees! Prints are glazed with lightweight, shatterproof, optical clarity acrylic (providing the same general protection from the environment as glass). The back is stapled hardboard with a sawtooth hanger attached. Note: measurements provided are estimated outer dimensions, which include both the image and the frame. While we aim to keep sizing consistent, exact dimensions may vary slightly due to differences in print size or production requirements, which may result in a variation in the overall size (up to approximately 2.5cm (1"))
