Facade of the Victoria and Albert Museum In Cromwell Road, c1935. The V&A Museum in South Kensington, central London, was founded in 1852 and named after Queen Victoria and Prince Albert. The building was designed by Sir Aston Webb, and seen here is the lantern in the shape of an imperial crown. The Museum has a permanent collection, spanning 5, 000 years of art, which contains 2.27 million objects including ceramics, glass, textiles, costumes, silver, ironwork, jewellery, furniture, medieval objects, sculpture, prints and printmaking, drawings and photographs.
