A drawing by Arthur Coryndon Hansler Luxmoore, in the General Exhibition of Water-Colour Drawings at the Dudley Gallery, 1869. In lieu of a title the painter quotes for the drawing we have engraved the appropriate fines from Tennyson's In Memoriam': And, thinking this will please him best, She takes a riband or a rose, For he will see them on to-night'. The subject of this pleasing drawing, taken in conjunction with these suggestive fines, will commend itself to the reader without any elucidation or stimulant we might attempt to supply. We will therefore merely observe that Mr. Luxmore is one of the most promising of the many deserving young artists whom the useful gallery at the Egyptian Hall has, by bringing their works before the public, served to rescue from a comparative obscurity in which they might for a time have remained. As we have remarked in a critical article, Mr. Luxmore's contributions to that gallery are specially commendable for simplicity, good taste, and sober breadth of tone'. Wood effect frame, card mounted, 10x8 fade resistant photo print. Overall outside dimensions 14x12 inches (36x31cm). Environmentally and ozone friendly, 40mm wide x 15mm Polycore® moulding has the look of real wood, is durable and light and easy to hang. Biodegradable and made with non-chlorinated gases (no toxic fumes) it is efficient; producing 100 tons of polystyrene can save 300 tons of trees! Prints are glazed with lightweight, shatterproof, optical clarity acrylic (providing the same general protection from the environment as glass). The back is stapled hardboard with a sawtooth hanger attached. Note: measurements provided are estimated outer dimensions, which include both the image and the frame. While we aim to keep sizing consistent, exact dimensions may vary slightly due to differences in print size or production requirements, which may result in a variation in the overall size (up to approximately 2.5cm (1"))
