Dinner given by the Inns of Court Volunteers to the Universities Corps, [London], 1868. It was mentioned in our last [issue] that these three volunteer corps had a field-day of their own, at Wimbledon, on Tuesday week. The two University corps arrived in London early, and marched to the King's Bench-walk, Temple, where they found the Inns of Court Volunteers, to the number of 152 rank and file, waiting to receive them. The Oxford University Volunteers were but twenty-three in number, under the command of Captain and Adjutant Jones. The other officers were Lieutenant Jermyn and Ensign Hughes. The officers in command, of the Cambridge University battalion, which mustered seventy-three, were Captains Tomlinson, Roe, Lofthouse, Wace, and Coldwell. The Inns of Court Volunteers were under the command of Major Lysley and Captain and Adjutant G. A. Wood. The other officers present were Captains Chitty, Roupell, Brandon, Holgate Lieutenants Quick, Murray, Coltman, Bulwer, Francis; Quartermaster Russell, and Ensign Knox...The University men were entertained by the Inns of Court men with a dinner in the Middle Temple Hall, of which we present an Illustration'. Wood effect frame, card mounted, 10x8 fade resistant photo print. Overall outside dimensions 14x12 inches (36x31cm). Environmentally and ozone friendly, 40mm wide x 15mm Polycore® moulding has the look of real wood, is durable and light and easy to hang. Biodegradable and made with non-chlorinated gases (no toxic fumes) it is efficient; producing 100 tons of polystyrene can save 300 tons of trees! Prints are glazed with lightweight, shatterproof, optical clarity acrylic (providing the same general protection from the environment as glass). The back is stapled hardboard with a sawtooth hanger attached. Note: measurements provided are estimated outer dimensions, which include both the image and the frame.
