Carte-de-visite of Mary Barker Bowen shown in bust portrait. Her body faces the camera, but her head is turned a quarter to her left and she looks off camera. Her hair is parted at the center and pulled into a chignon at the nape of her neck. She wears a dark bodice with a white collar and an oval brooch at her front neck. The bottom portion of the image is purposefully faded in the popular style of the time.; Handwritten in graphite on the bottom of the print is the name Mrs. Bowen with 1866 written below the print on the mount. There is a green and white 3 cent canceled revenue stamp on the back of the print featuring George Washington with HU / NY written over it in ink with Henry Ulkes mark printed above it.; The photograph is housed in the album 2017.30. The album page has a triple-lined, gold border framing the print. Handwritten in graphite at the lower left corner of the album page is the text HENRY ULKE. Wood effect frame, card mounted, 10x8 fade resistant photo print. Overall outside dimensions 14x12 inches (36x31cm). Environmentally and ozone friendly, 40mm wide x 15mm Polycore® moulding has the look of real wood, is durable and light and easy to hang. Biodegradable and made with non-chlorinated gases (no toxic fumes) it is efficient; producing 100 tons of polystyrene can save 300 tons of trees! Prints are glazed with lightweight, shatterproof, optical clarity acrylic (providing the same general protection from the environment as glass). The back is stapled hardboard with a sawtooth hanger attached. Note: measurements provided are estimated outer dimensions, which include both the image and the frame. While we aim to keep sizing consistent, exact dimensions may vary slightly due to differences in print size or production requirements, which may result in a variation in the overall size (up to approximately 2.5cm (1"))
