Ca d Oro, Venice, Italy, late 19th or early 20th century
Ca d Oro, Venice, Italy, late 19th or early 20th century. This palace on the Grand Canal was built in the first half of the 15th century. Regarded as one of the best examples of Venetian Gothic architecture, it was built for Marino Contarini, a wealthy patrician. The architect was Bartolomeo Bono. The palaces name, which means House of Gold, derives from the fact that the facade was originally extensively decorated with gold leaf. Stereoscopic card. Detail
