The Battle of Quiberon, 1795, (1896)
The Battle of Quiberon, 1795, (1896). In July, 1795, six thousand French emigres were landed at Quiberon, in Brittany, under the protection of an English fleet. Hoche, at the head of the republican forces, attacked them fiercely, and only about 1800 of them escaped to the English vessels. Engraving after the painting made in the 1880s by Pierre Outin. From Life of Napoleon Bonaparte, Volume I, by William Milligan Sloane. [The Century Co. New York, 1896]
