Arranging for Massenas Capitulation at Cornigliano, Near Genoa, 1896. In 1800, the French general Andre Massena was besieged at Genoa in Italy by the Austrians. Massenas negotiator finally agreed to evacuate the French army, however if the word capitulation was mentioned or written, Massena threatened to end all negotiations.
