The Apollo capsule is the only part of the Apollo spacecraft that returns to earth. Apollo 10, carrying astronauts Thomas Stafford, John Young and Eugene Cernan, was launched on 18 May 1969 on a lunar orbital mission, the dress rehearsal for the Apollo 11 landing mission
