Framed Print of William Pyper, c1900. Creator: Robert Brough
William Pyper, c1900. One of the wealthiest Aberdeen merchants at the turn of the century, having opened his first store near Marischal College in 1866. Today Pyper of Pitfodels is remembered for having managed Aberdeen's first steam trawling ship and for helping establish the Aberdeen Association for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. What is lesser known about the prosperous merchant is that he was himself an amateur artist and even exhibited with the Aberdeen Artists Society in 1902.
