The War in Denmark: Prussian outpost at the corner of Buffel-Koppel Wood - from a sketch by our special artist, 1864. View of...one of those rude straw huts improvised for the shelter of the Prussian soldiers on outpost duty in various directions around the encampment of their army at Broacker. The Buffel-Koppel Wood, which is traversed by the high road from Flensburg to Sonderburg, is situated between the inlet of the Nubel Noer to the west and the heights of Duppel to the east, occupying the little isthmus or neck of land which joins the Broagerland peninsula to the mainland of Sundewitt. It is essential, therefore, to the safety of the Prussian army, that they should guard this position against a sudden attack. As it commands the road to both the hostile camps, all passing strangers are stopped and narrowly scrutinised by the non-commissioned officers stationed there. In our sketch we see a gentleman on horseback, who has just submitted his passport to the inspection of the sergeant, and appears to be replying to his questions upon it'. Wood effect frame, card mounted, 10x8 fade resistant photo print. Overall outside dimensions 14x12 inches (36x31cm). Environmentally and ozone friendly, 40mm wide x 15mm Polycore® moulding has the look of real wood, is durable and light and easy to hang. Biodegradable and made with non-chlorinated gases (no toxic fumes) it is efficient; producing 100 tons of polystyrene can save 300 tons of trees! Prints are glazed with lightweight, shatterproof, optical clarity acrylic (providing the same general protection from the environment as glass). The back is stapled hardboard with a sawtooth hanger attached. Note: measurements provided are estimated outer dimensions, which include both the image and the frame. While we aim to keep sizing consistent, exact dimensions may vary slightly due to differences in print size or production requirements, which may result in a variation in the overall size (up to approximately 2.5cm (1"))
