The Embankment was designed by the civil engineer Joseph Bazalgette to accommodate his new sewer system and to provide a thoroughfare alongside the River Thames. In the centre is Cleopatras Needle, an ancient Egyptian obelisk dating from c1500 BC, transported from Egypt to London in 1878. Postcard

The back is stapled hardboard with a sawtooth hanger attached.
