One at a Time, by E. Knaus, 1873. The proverbial admonition One at a time! has received an exemplary illustration from the pencil of a German artist, whose work is copied in our Engraving. In the feeding of geese or turkeys, or barndoor fowl, or any other poultry, as well as in the feeding of pigs, one has frequent occasion to bid them mind their manners. Turkeys are the greediest of domestic birds and have a prodigious capacity for gobbling as much as they can get. They and the geese should be sent out daily to pick up a large part of their needful nutriment in some field or common ground; but a good breakfast and supper are also due to them from the hands of such a careful mistress as we see in this picture. When fowls are kept in confinement, a mid-day meal should likewise be administered; and it is desirable on all these occasions, as well for the birds own health and comfort as for the sake of the principle involved, that they should not be allowed to eat too rapaciously, but with a moderate restraint of appetite; so that none be stuffed and none be starved, but each consume a due portion, decently and in due order, One at a time. Wood effect frame, card mounted, 10x8 fade resistant photo print. Overall outside dimensions 14x12 inches (36x31cm). Environmentally and ozone friendly, 40mm wide x 15mm Polycore® moulding has the look of real wood, is durable and light and easy to hang. Biodegradable and made with non-chlorinated gases (no toxic fumes) it is efficient; producing 100 tons of polystyrene can save 300 tons of trees! Prints are glazed with lightweight, shatterproof, optical clarity acrylic (providing the same general protection from the environment as glass). The back is stapled hardboard with a sawtooth hanger attached. Note: measurements provided are estimated outer dimensions, which include both the image and the frame. While we aim to keep sizing consistent, exact dimensions may vary slightly due to differences in print size or production requirements, which may result in a variation in the overall size (up to approximately 2.5cm (1"))
