Temporary church within St. Michael and All Angels, Shoreditch, [London], 1865. A...view of the interior as it appeared a few months ago, while the work of its construction was going on over the temporary building in which the services of the Church have been carried on during the last two years. We believe the only known precedent for this singular expedient of placing the temporary church in the midst of the rising walls of the intended permanent edifice is to be found in the history of the building of York Minster. Architecturally, it is perhaps one of the finest churches lately built in London, being large enough to accommodate 1000 worshippers without any galleries, though only seated at present for 750...Internally, the fittings have mostly been gifts, and include a memorial window, executed by Messrs. Clayton and Bell...The reredos and font are by Mr. Thomas Earp; altar and choir fittings by Mr. Alfred Robinson, of Holborn; and gas and metalwork by Messrs. Peard and Jackson. The architect is Mr, James Brooks, of Serle-street, Lincoln's-inn-fields'. From Illustrated London News, 1865. Wood effect frame, card mounted, 10x8 fade resistant photo print. Overall outside dimensions 14x12 inches (36x31cm). Environmentally and ozone friendly, 40mm wide x 15mm Polycore® moulding has the look of real wood, is durable and light and easy to hang. Biodegradable and made with non-chlorinated gases (no toxic fumes) it is efficient; producing 100 tons of polystyrene can save 300 tons of trees! Prints are glazed with lightweight, shatterproof, optical clarity acrylic (providing the same general protection from the environment as glass). The back is stapled hardboard with a sawtooth hanger attached. Note: measurements provided are estimated outer dimensions, which include both the image and the frame. While we aim to keep sizing consistent, exact dimensions may vary slightly due to differences in print size or production requirements, which may result in a variation in the overall size (up to approximately 2.5cm (1"))
