The Stockport Sunday-School, [Cheshire], 1850. Monthly lectures are delivered on Sunday evenings, and an annual sermon preached is for the benefit of the Institution by some eminent minister, when a selection of sacred music is performed; by the proceeds of which, and an annual subscription from the inhabitants of the town, the Institution has been supported since its commencement...From the opening of the School, in 1806, the Bible...has been the only class-book: and the children have attended the parish church and other places of worship in the town in regular rotation...The large School, with the new wing, now contains eighty-three teaching-rooms: and, by the last Report of the committee, published in 1849, it appears that the total number of children now educating in the parent institution and its auxiliary schools is 5200, of whom 2538 are girls, and 2662 boys...'.
