Spoons, 16th century, (1843). Artist: Henry Shaw
Spoons, 16th century, (1843). The larger, made of silver gilt, is made of three parts. The handle is a fork, the prongs of which fit into the back of the bowl, the end of the fork unscrews and when taken off, provides a toothpick. It can be folded up to occupy less room. Illustration from Dresses and Decorations of the Middle Ages from the Seventh to the Seventeenth Centuries, by Henry Shaw, (London, 1843)
