Sir Alexander Cockburn, 12th Baronet, Lord Chief Justice of England, 1875. Cockburn (1802-1880) was involved in some of the most prominent English legal cases of the 19th century, either as advocate or judge. He served as Solicitor General, then Attorney General in the 1850s, and was appointed Chief Justice of the Queens Bench in 1859.
