"Santa Claus" at the Lyceum Theatre: the children, Eric (Miss Kitty Loftus) and Rosamond (Miss Rosie Leyton) visited by Santa Claus (Mr. William Rignold) on Christmas Eve, 1895. London stage production. Once more Mr. Oscar Barrett has joined hands with Mr. Horace Lennard, a writer of very graceful couplets and lyrics, and under the generic title of "Santa Claus, " so dear to all children at this time of the year, they have ingeniously interwoven the stories of "Robin Hood and Maid Marian" with that of the "Babes in the Wood." Acting, and very good acting too, of its kind, is the main feature of the Lyceum "Santa Claus." The pretty babes of the Norfolk legend, as it is properly called, are delightfully played by Miss Kitty Loftus and Miss Rosie Leyton, whose distinct enunciation is highly to be commended...Mr. William Rignold, an experienced actor, makes a very dignified and at the same time genial Santa Claus, and after the ceaseless repetition of the popular songs of the day elsewhere it is a relief to listen to Mr. Oscar Barrett's pretty and appropriate original music. I doubt if there will be many seats vacant at the Lyceum pantomime until the holidays are over... From "Illustrated London News", 1895. Wood effect frame, card mounted, 10x8 fade resistant photo print. Overall outside dimensions 14x12 inches (36x31cm). Environmentally and ozone friendly, 40mm wide x 15mm Polycore® moulding has the look of real wood, is durable and light and easy to hang. Biodegradable and made with non-chlorinated gases (no toxic fumes) it is efficient; producing 100 tons of polystyrene can save 300 tons of trees! Prints are glazed with lightweight, shatterproof, optical clarity acrylic (providing the same general protection from the environment as glass). The back is stapled hardboard with a sawtooth hanger attached. Note: measurements provided are estimated outer dimensions, which include both the image and the frame.
