The Right Hon. W. Monsell, M.P. Postmaster-General, 1871. Engraving from a photograph by the London Stereoscopic Company, of the...M.P. for the county of Limerick...after the abolition of the Clerkship of the Ordnance, for a short time he held no public employment, he reentered official life, in 1857, as President of the Board of Health, in Lord Palmerston's Government. It should be said that after his advent to Parliament, Mr. Monsell seceded from the Established Church and became a member of the Roman Catholic persuasion. Having before this, and ever since, been held in high esteem in Ireland as a landlord and as a politician, he acquired a very important and influential position amongst the Irish party in the House and out of it; and was, and is, so much of a representative man in reference to Ireland, that it has been apparently deemed to be judicious always to have him in office of some kind with every Liberal Ministry, from 1857 down to the present time...He was Vice-President of the Board of Trade in 1806, and was appointed Under-Secretary for the Colonies in 1868'. Wood effect frame, card mounted, 10x8 fade resistant photo print. Overall outside dimensions 14x12 inches (36x31cm). Environmentally and ozone friendly, 40mm wide x 15mm Polycore® moulding has the look of real wood, is durable and light and easy to hang. Biodegradable and made with non-chlorinated gases (no toxic fumes) it is efficient; producing 100 tons of polystyrene can save 300 tons of trees! Prints are glazed with lightweight, shatterproof, optical clarity acrylic (providing the same general protection from the environment as glass). The back is stapled hardboard with a sawtooth hanger attached. Note: measurements provided are estimated outer dimensions, which include both the image and the frame. While we aim to keep sizing consistent, exact dimensions may vary slightly due to differences in print size or production requirements, which may result in a variation in the overall size (up to approximately 2.5cm (1"))
