Rene Paul Fonck, French fighter ace, 1918

Rene Paul Fonck, French fighter ace, 1918. Fonck (1894-1953) was credited with six enemy aircraft destroyed in one day, a feat he achieved on 8 May 1918. Fonck ended the Great War at the top of the list of all Allied fighter aces. His 75 confirmed victories also ranked him second only to Manfred von Richthofen amongst all First World War pilots
