Portrait of Leo I of Galicia (ca.1228-ca.1301), Prince of Galicia-Volhynia. King of Ruthenia, Prince of Belz (1245-1264), Przemysl, Galicia (1264-1269), and Kiev (1271-1301). Created in the 18th Century.
Additional Info: The city of Lviv was founded by King Daniel I of Galicia, who named it to honour his son Lev. When Lev took over the power after his father, he moved the capital of his country to Lviv in 1272 (the former capital was Chelm). For this reason, the memory of this prince was especially venerated in Lviv, and the expression of this veneration is this imaginary portrait made in the 18th century, nearly five hundred years after his death. The image depicts a Lev in full plate armour, with a mace and a sabre. He wears a red coat lined with ermine fur, with a precious golden chain hanging from the shoulders, the head is decorated with a princely calpack. In the background, we can see the city panorama treated quite synthetically, but the characteristic points of the panorama of the old Lviv are visible the castle, the Church of St Onuphrius, the tower of the Wallachian Church. Wood effect frame, card mounted, 10x8 fade resistant photo print. Overall outside dimensions 14x12 inches (36x31cm). Environmentally and ozone friendly, 40mm wide x 15mm Polycore® moulding has the look of real wood, is durable and light and easy to hang. Biodegradable and made with non-chlorinated gases (no toxic fumes) it is efficient; producing 100 tons of polystyrene can save 300 tons of trees! Prints are glazed with lightweight, shatterproof, optical clarity acrylic (providing the same general protection from the environment as glass). The back is stapled hardboard with a sawtooth hanger attached. Note: measurements provided are estimated outer dimensions, which include both the image and the frame. While we aim to keep sizing consistent, exact dimensions may vary slightly due to differences in print size or production requirements, which may result in a variation in the overall size (up to approximately 2.5cm (1"))
