Framed Print of Portrait of Jan Zamoyski (1542-1605), Grand Hetman of the Crown, between 1775-1800. Creator: Unknown
Portrait of Jan Zamoyski (1542-1605), Grand Hetman of the Crown, between 1775-1800.
Polish nobleman, magnate, statesman and the 1st ordynat of Zamosc. He served as the Royal Secretary from 1565, Deputy Chancellor from 1576, Grand Chancellor of the Crown from 1578, and Great Hetman of the Crown from 1581.
Additional Info: The painting composition is not an original work, but a reproduction of the engraving made in 1789 by French engraver Jean Massard (1740-1822). The engraving was based on a drawing made by Jean-Michel Moreau the Younger (1741-1814). Therefore, this is an example of a historical work whose task was to recall an outstanding and well-known historical figure and to remind of his achievements.
