Framed Print of The new pavilion at Lord's Cricket Ground, 1890. Creator: Unknown

The new pavilion at Lord's Cricket Ground, St John's Wood, London, 1890. Lord's Cricket-ground has obtained this season a great improvement, in the handsome new pavilion erected by the Marylebone Club. The architect is Mr. Thomas Verity, and the work has been carried out by Messrs. Simpson and Co. at a cost of rather more than £20, 000. The building is on the site of the old one; it is fronted with ornamental terracotta-work, and has seat accommodation for upwards of 3000 people. On the ground floor is a room where members can take shelter during rain, 90 ft. long and 30 ft. wide. One end of the building is devoted to the secretary, and the other to general offices. On the first floor is a long series of dressing- and bath-rooms, and the floor above is devoted to the same purpose. The greater part of the roof is covered, and there is room on it to seat 2000 people. There is a refreshment-room, which affords the utmost comfort and convenience'.
