The new Indian Section, South Kensington Museum, [London], 1880. Collection...formed by transferring to the Science and Art Department at South Kensington the contents of the Museum lately existing in the offices of the Secretary of State for India...[In] Room I. a varied assortment of examples of native Indian carpets will be found, besides several interesting models of ceilings inlaid with coloured glasses, and a fine collection of photographs illustrative of the architecture of India. Rooms II. and III. are devoted to a display of native silk carpets, mats, and fancy beadwork; Room IV. to native costumes and gold embroideries...This apartment also contains examples of native Royal costumes, of great splendour, and of beautifully furnished saddles...The contents of the rooms on this floor will be found not less instructive and attractive. The first contains a splendid collection of native jewellery, including jet, crystal, and silver work; the next a magnificent assortment of native arms and armour, lent by the Queen ; the others being devoted to examples of pottery, marble carvings, musical instruments...and a charming series of water-colour paintings, representing scenes in India, sketched and lent by Mr. W. Wood effect frame, card mounted, 10x8 fade resistant photo print. Overall outside dimensions 14x12 inches (36x31cm). Environmentally and ozone friendly, 40mm wide x 15mm Polycore® moulding has the look of real wood, is durable and light and easy to hang. Biodegradable and made with non-chlorinated gases (no toxic fumes) it is efficient; producing 100 tons of polystyrene can save 300 tons of trees! Prints are glazed with lightweight, shatterproof, optical clarity acrylic (providing the same general protection from the environment as glass). The back is stapled hardboard with a sawtooth hanger attached. Note: measurements provided are estimated outer dimensions, which include both the image and the frame. While we aim to keep sizing consistent, exact dimensions may vary slightly due to differences in print size or production requirements, which may result in a variation in the overall size (up to approximately 2.5cm (1"))
