Three minstrels, c1480, (1910). Representation after a manuscript of the Romance of the Rose, part of a larger scene representing the karole or dance of Sire Mirthe. One man has a harp, another a flute, the third has a pipe and tabor. The harpist wears a court-pie with large dagged sleeves, the other two wear long cottes - garments and hose of more than one colour. Their small caps are worn over long hair.
